Born in the underground of Brick City, the "3rd & jam" is a Neo-Soul R&B band based out of Newark, New Jersey in the United States. The band consists of a five piece funk phenomenon with original live instrumentation at its core of originality and performance.

The band's guiding mantra is...

"every musical measure is a source of auditory pleasure"!

What inspired our music?

Acid Jazz groups such as the Brand New Heavies and Soul II Soul has had a major influence on the musical sound and magic the "3rd & jam" creates. We would be remised not to include the musical genius of Prince, Eryka Badu and the early years of Jill Scott as a guiding force in creating our rough but smooth musically diverse live soulful sounding recordings.

Who would you like to record with Past or present?

As far as artists we would like to record with from the past... any of the members from "The Emotions" and "The Brother's Johnson" are the first to come to mind along with just about any of the bands from the 70's era of music. Every band during that time had the musicians and the musicianship that created extremely diverse and original timeless music. (unlike today)

An artist of the present we would like to record with wild be Esperanza Spalding. She is a rare talent that (by today's standards) that actually plays a musical instrument (the bass) and sings exceptionally well while doing it.

Where can people purchase your Music?

Well Ty, we would love for music lovers to purchase our entire self titled project album the "3rd & jam" but we know that's not where current music content consumption is living.

We ask that musical patronage of the "3rd & jam" be consumed through online streaming through Amazon, Spotify, YouTube or Apple Music / iTunes.

Especially Youtube users and Spotify, because it's essentially free (for most people) because they already have accounts.

This way we can continue to finalize and upload the back unpublished catalogue of music that we have waiting in the wings for our current and future fans. There always seems to be hidden costs (that we incur) when trying to complete the aforementioned task with in a reasonable time frame.

...And having listeners stream our music is the quickest and most effective way offsetting the costs of getting the new project out as quickly as possible. (And promoting the current project)
