WAR DOGS On Death row.

2 Belgian Shepherds who served in Afghanistan called  Kevin and Dazz are both facing lethal injections as home office  has ruled them unsafe for  removing.                                                            The handlers  of these dogs are upset with this decision and this is the fate of other animals like them.

WAR DOGS ON DEATH ROW

Veteran dogs which saved thousands of lives while on duty in Afghanistan both face being put down — because Top Brass claim they can’t be re-homed

TWO Army dogs which helped save thousands of lives while on duty in Afghanistan will be put down next week, because Top Brass say they can’t be re-homed.

Belgian shepherds Kevin and Dazz sniffed out deadly IEDs on missions in Helmand Province before being retired.

Former soldiers and handlers who worked with Kevin have written to the Defence Animal Centre to halt the decision

Both face lethal injections after chiefs ruled them unsafe for new homes. One angry handler said as a rescue campaign began: “We’ll do anything to save them.”

A distraught handler has slammed the decision to destroy Army dogs Kevin and Dazz — saying: “This is such a cruel way to treat these animals that have given us so much.”

The two Belgian Shepherds, retired after dozens of life-saving missions as specially-trained search dogs in Afghanistan, are due to be put down next week after chiefs ruled they can’t be re-homed.

Former soldiers and handlers who worked with the pair — and with an ex-police hound named Driver which is also doomed to die — have written to the commanding officer at the Defence Animal Centre in Melton Mowbray, Leics.

Veteran Dazz, nine, faces the lethal injection in the coming days as they are apparently unsuitable to be re-homed

But despite experienced handlers offering to take them, Army chiefs are standing firm, saying they aren’t safe to be given new homes.

The angry handler said amid a campaign to rescue the trio: “People who worked closely with these dogs are devastated at the plans — they’ve begged to save them all.

“There’s no protocol to decide if a dog is put down. The commanding officer decides and that’s it. It’s such a cruel way to treat animals that have given so much.

“We’ll do anything to save these dogs. We’ll go to Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson if need be.”

Distraught handlers have slammed Top Brass for their ‘cruel’ decision to put down these hero animals

Dazz retired from the front line four years ago and worked with trainees at the Defence Animal Centre

Kevin and Dazz, both nine, sniffed out IEDs on several tours of Afghanistan, saving many lives. After being retired from the front line about four years ago they worked with trainees and are now at the Defence Animal Centre.

Once deemed too old for duty, they should have gone through a detraining programme to see if they were suitable for new homes.

But the handler said the commanding officer had taken an “extreme view” after a recent incident where another dog bit a civilian.

SAS legend Andy McNab launched an online petition to save the hounds. He said: “Dogs like these saved me many times.

Plans to put down hero service dog Kevin are in place to happen next week

MALI'S 'VC' GONG

NEWS of the dogs’ death sentence comes less than two weeks after a hero hound was given the animal equivalent of the Victoria Cross.

Belgian Malinois Mali played a key role sniffing out explosives during a gunfight at a Taliban stronghold in Afghanistan.

The battle lasted 7½ hours and saw Mali help Special Boat Service operators hunt down and kill more than 12 insurgents holed up in a Kabul building in April 2012.

He was seriously hurt by grenade shrapnel that tore into his belly and legs, blew out a front tooth and damaged his right ear. But he remained at his handler’s side

Now retired from frontline duties and fully recovered Mali, left, was awarded the Dickin Medal by animal charity PDSA in London on November 17.

Thrilled handler Cpl Daniel Hatley said: “I am extremely proud of him.”

“They should be cared for when they retire. If homes are being offered by handlers it’s outrageous there are plans to put them down.”

An Army spokesman said: “Wherever possible we endeavour to rehome military working dogs. Sadly there are occasions where this is not possible.”

In 2012 there was fury after The Sun revealed two dogs protecting Prince William at his RAF base were put down days after he left.

MILITARY MUTTS

UP to 380 military dogs are currently working in the British Army.

The animals operate with handlers on counter-insurgency operations, detection of Improvised Explosive Devices, scouting safe routes and buildings, vehicle searches, drug-busting and also on security tasks.

Military dogs have been deployed in every major conflict since World War One.

Many have served with distinction in Northern Ireland, Afghanistan, Iraq, Kosovo and Bosnia.

Most are attached to the First Military Working Dog Regiment, whose regimental motto Vires in Varietate translates as Strength in Diversity.

Dogs like Kevin and Dazz are trained to alert their commanders from a relatively long distance when they detect deadly IEDs — providing an additional level of assurance.

They search ahead of the Infantry patrol, allowing for improved freedom of movement in increased threat environments, and seek out the presence of explosives and pressure plates.

THE PRISONER 50 YEARS OLD

This is a series I watched in reruns  and like it's weird and quirky look .I AM NOT A NUMBER I AM A FREE MAN.
The Prisoner

This article is about the 1967 British TV series. For other uses, see Prisoner (disambiguation).

The Prisoner is a 17-episode British television series[2] first broadcast in Canada beginning on 6 September 1967 then in the United Kingdom on 29 September 1967 and in the United States on 1 June 1968.[3] It stars and was co-created by Patrick McGoohan, and combines spy fiction with elements of science fiction, allegory and psychological drama.[2]

The series follows a British former secret agent who is abducted and imprisoned in a mysterious coastal village resort, where his captors try to find out why he abruptly resigned from his job. Although the show was sold as a thriller in the mould of the previous series starring McGoohan, Danger Man(1960–68; retitled as Secret Agent in the US), its combination of 1960s counterculturalthemes and surrealistic setting had a far-reaching influence on science fiction and fantasy TV programming, and on narrative popular culture in general.[4]

80 years of British family holidays at Butlin's-plus my butlins.

The train from the town voted most boring in Britain threads an erratic course through Lincolnshire and, on a good day, arrives by 9am at a place sometimes derided as Skegvegas. But 80 summers ago, there were plenty of people for whom the Lincolnshire resort was the closest destination to paradise.
“Butlin’s Skegness Holiday Camp wish to announce that the camp is now fully booked to the middle of September,” read a newspaper advertisement from 1936. “During the last week over 1,400 bookings were refused as we had no further accommodation available.”

When is a photo yours?

A recent argument as made me question who owns rights to a photo.Example using old family photos when were younger or use from facebook  .Here is what research brought up ... wnership of digital photos is a thorny issue, not helped at all by the difficult legalese that Omakes up most online terms and conditions.
With many popular social networking and photo sharing websites, you may 'own' your digital photos, but once you post them online, you give the site the right to use them how it wishes.
The photo application Instagram, owned by Facebook, caused a commotion when it changed its terms and conditions to state that it had the right to sell users' photos to advertising partners.
The UK government has also not helped the issue by passing changes to copyright laws that could make it easier for media companies to claim ownership of, or at least use, images posted online.
So just what are your rights with the various photo-sharing sites and social networks? We've waded through the hellishly long terms and conditions for some of these companies to see what they mean for you.
Instagram
Instagram's stance boils down to the uneasy difference between ‘ownership’ and ‘license to use’.
Post a photo to Instagram and yes, you do own it. But Instagram has the right to use it in its promotional activities, and it can transfer or sub-license this right to its partners.
To put it another way, it’s your car. But park it in the Instagram garage, and you give Instagram (and its friends) a spare set of keys and the right to go for a drive whenever it likes.
But a further clause reveals that this relationship doesn’t work both ways, and you're not free to help yourself to any old content on Instagram that isn't your own.
Facebook
As the owner of Instagram, it's no surprise that Facebook's take on content ownership is the same.
As a Facebook user, you own any content, including photos, that you post online, according to its terms. However, it also states in its T&Cs that you give it the right to ‘use’ your content, and this right can be transferred or sub-licensed to its partners.
According to the T&Cs of both Facebook and Instagram, any profit that is made as a result of using your content will not be shared with you.Twitter
It’s a familiar story over at Twitter’s T&Cs, with the same language being used around adapting, modifying, distributing and using your content, which includes any photos you upload.
By signing up to Twitter you agree to let it 'use, copy, reproduce, process, adapt, modify, publish, transmit, display and distribute' any of your content, including photos that you post.
Once you post a photo to Twitter, it’s perfectly within its rights to use that photo for its own purposes.
Flickr
Even photo-uploading stalwart Flickr isn’t immune to the legalese around rights to use your content.
Post a photo to Flickr and you give Yahoo! a right to 'reproduce, modify, adapt and publish' your content, though only for the purpose of promoting its own services.
Behind the legalese
With a lot of online photo-sharing sites, the same legal terms keep cropping up. But what do they mean for your content?
Use
It's a complete catch-all. There’s not much of a limit on what ‘using your content’ could boil down to, and it puts plenty of rights within the hands of the service.
Adapt/modify
Again, these terms could cover a lot of ground, for example cropping an image to show only a part of your photo rather than the whole thing if it were used as part of a promotional campaign.
Display/distribute
These terms allow the services to use your photos in promotional activities such as advertising campaigns, although it’s unlikely you’ll see your photo on the side of a bus poster.
Transferable/sub-licensable
This lets the service transfer the rights to your photos to any partner they may work with now or in the future – for example, an advertising partner.
Royalty-free
If any profit is made as a result of using your photo, you won’t be seeing a penny for it .

2 Tone (music genre)

2 Tone (or Two Tone) was a late-1970s ska revival in the United Kingdom led by Jerry Dammers and The Specials. It fused traditional ska music with punk rock attitude, energy and musical elements.[1][2] Its name came from the record label that Dammers founded, 2 Tone Records as well as a desire to transcend and defuse racial tensions in Thatcher-era Britain. Although 2 Tone's mainstream commercial appeal was largely limited to the UK, it influenced the North American ska punk movement (also known asthird wave ska) in the 1980s and 1990s.[3][4]The 2 Tone sound was developed by young musicians in Coventry, West Midlands, England who grew up hearing 1960s Jamaican music.[5] They combined influences from ska, reggae and rocksteady with elements of punk rock and new wave. Bands considered part of the genre include: The Specials, The Selecter, The Beat, Madness, Bad Manners and The Bodysnatchers.[3]
The term was coined by The Specials' keyboard player Jerry Dammers, who — with the assistance of Horace Panter and graphic designer John "Teflon" Sims — created the iconic Walt Jabsco logo (a man in a black suit, white shirt, black tie, pork pie hat, white socks and black loafers) to represent the 2 Tone genre. The logo was based on an early album cover photo of Peter Tosh, and included an added black-and-white check pattern.[6][7][8]
Most of the bands considered to be part of the 2 Tone genre were signed to 2 Tone Records at some point. Other record labels associated with the 2 Tone sound were Stiff Records and Go Feet Records. The music was especially popular among skinheadsrudiesand some mod revivalists.wiki link-a music that was very much part of the music scene around southend-on -sea during the 80s and saw i lot of people coping style of clothes .

/Glasses

Glasses, also known as eyeglasses or spectacles, are devices consisting of lenses mounted in a frame that holds them in front of a person's eyes. Glasses are typically used for vision correction. Safety glasses provide eye protection against flying debris or against visible and near-visible light or radiationSunglasses allow better vision in bright daylight, and may protect one's eyes against damage from high levels of ultraviolet light. Specialized glasses may be used for viewing specific visual information (such as stereoscopy). Sometimes glasses are worn simply for aesthetic or fashion purposes. The number of Americans who are nearsighted has doubled since the 1970s and almost 3/4 of the US population wears glasses. People are more likely to need glasses the older they get with 93% of people between the age of 65-75 wearing corrective lenses-wiki link-https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glasses-i have worn glasses since the middle eighties for reading, long sight and i remember being  abit aware of people taking the mike out of me but soon pasted ,now have 2 pairs one is just for reading and doing computer the others are tinted due sightly sensitive to light.

Mental health

,What is mental illness...Examples of mental illness include depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, eating disorders and addictive behaviors.

Many people have mental health concerns from time to time. But a mental health concern becomes a mental illness when ongoing signs and symptoms cause frequent stress and affect your ability to function. A mental illness can make you miserable and can cause problems in your daily life, such as at work or in relationships. In most cases, mental illness symptoms can be managed with a combination of medications and counseling (psychotherapy. Mental illnesses, in general, are thought to be caused by a variety of genetic and environmental factors:

Inherited traits. Mental illness is more common in people whose biological (blood) relatives also have a mental illness. Certain genes may increase your risk of developing a mental illness, and your life situation may trigger the actual mental illness.

Environmental exposures before birth. Exposure to viruses, toxins, alcohol or drugs while in the womb can sometimes be linked to mental illness.

Negative life experiences. Situations in your life, such as the loss of a loved one, financial problems and high stress, can play a role in triggering mental illness. So can an upbringing that leads to poor self-esteem or a history of sexual or physical abuse. Life experiences can lead to unhealthy patterns of thinking linked to mental illness, such as pessimism or distorted ways of thinking.

Brain chemistry. Biochemical changes in the brain are thought to affect mood and other aspects of mental health. Naturally occurring brain chemicals called neurotransmitters play a role in some mental illnesses. In some cases, hormonal imbalances affect mental health. It's thought that inherited traits, life experiences and biological factors can all affect brain chemistry linked to mental illnesses Signs and symptoms of mental illness can vary, depending on the particular disorder, circumstances and other factors. Mental illness symptoms can affect emotions, thoughts and behaviors.

Examples of signs and symptoms include:

Feeling sad or down
Confused thinking or reduced ability to concentrate
Excessive fears or worries
Extreme mood changes of highs and lows
Withdrawal from friends and activities
Significant tiredness, low energy or problems sleeping
Detachment from reality (delusions), paranoia or hallucinations
Inability to cope with daily problems or stress
Extreme feelings of guilt
Alcohol or drug abuse
Major changes in eating habits
Sex drive changes
Excessive anger, hostility or violence
Suicidal thinking
Sometimes symptoms of a mental health disorder appear as physical problems, such as abdominal pain, back pain, headache, or other unexplained aches and pains In most cases, a mental illness won't get better if you try to treat it on your own without professional care. But you can do some things for yourself that will build on your treatment plan:

Stick to your treatment plan. Don't skip therapy sessions. Even if you're feeling better, don't skip your medications. If you stop, symptoms may come back. You could also have withdrawal-like symptoms if you stop a medication too suddenly. If you have bothersome medication side effects or other problems with your treatment, talk to your doctor before making changes.
Avoid alcohol and drug use. Using alcohol or illegal drugs can make it difficult to treat a mental illness. If you're addicted, quitting can be a real challenge. If you can't quit on your own, see your doctor or find a support group to help you.
Stay active. Exercise can help you manage symptoms such as depression, stress and anxiety. Physical activity can also counteract the effects of some psychiatric medications that may cause weight gain. Consider walking, jogging, swimming, gardening or taking up another form of physical activity that you enjoy. Even light physical activity can make a difference.
Don't make important decisions when your symptoms are severe. Avoid decision making when you're in the depth of mental illness symptoms, since you may not be thinking clearly.
Prioritize your life. You can reduce the impact of your mental illness by carefully managing your time and energy. Cut back on obligations when necessary, and set reasonable goals for yourself. Give yourself permission to do less when your symptoms are bad. You may find it helpful to make a list of daily tasks, use sticky notes as reminders, or use a planner to structure your time and stay organized.
Learn to adopt a positive attitude. Focusing on the positive things in your life can make your life better and may even improve your health. Try to accept changes when they occur, and keep problems in perspective. All the above is a medical dictionary definition my personal  experience is no mental health problems go by the textbook and if you  treat  the person  affected  as a human being  you can get a very good  insight, how you may say dear reader wel i have mental health problems. .o.cd,paranoid, and worked as a  care worker  in this field  for 10 years and no i am not a expert judt someone who likes to help others.

Cellulitis and cellulite are two very different things. One will make you cringe when you put on a bathing suit and the other can kill you. If left unchecked, the skin infection known as cellulitis can spread to your lymph nodes and bloodstream and become life threatening. It can enter your body through a tiny cut from shaving your legs, an insect bite or even from cracks in severely dry skin. Cellulitis can also occur with human or animal bites, so if your child is bitten by another child, be sure to watch the wound carefully. Because it can spread rapidly, you should know what to look for if you suspect you might have an infection and where to get cellulitis help.

What is Cellulitis?
Cellulitis is a non-contagious bacterial skin infection. While the bacteria are present in the world around us, you cannot “catch” it from someone else. Cellulitis is actually an inflammation of the cells in the skin layers. It can enter the body through any break in the skin and is usually caused by the Streptococcus and Staphylococcus germs. The incidence of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is increasing and becoming more well known. A very rare complication can result in the deep-tissue infection necrotizing fasciitis, or flesh eating strep. Once the bacteria have entered through a break in the skin, they attack the tissues and can spread rapidly throughout the body.

What are the Symptoms?
Cellulitis usually appears on the lower legs, particularly around the shins and ankles. It can appear on the face, although this is more common in young children and older adults. The skin becomes swollen, red, and warm to the touch and may be accompanied by small red bumps or blisters.READ MORE-http://www.lifescript.com/health/archive/cellulitis_when_to_worry.aspx-WHY THIS POST WELL AT MOMENT MY WIFE HAS THIS ON HER LEFT LEG .OUR DAILY ROUTINE AT THIS TIME OF POST IS PUTTING ON ABSORBENT PADS - 4 SMALL -AND CON FONT STOCKING OVER THEM AND THEN HER REATING HER LEG WITH A TOWEL AND BLANKET UNDER IT .THE PRACTICE NURSE HAS VISITED AND WE AWAIT A MATRON TO ON TUESDAY TO PUT OTHER ACTIONS IN FOR US -IE WHEELCHAIR,HELP WITH DIET AND BREATHING AND OF COURSE THE PRESENT WOUND CARE

Richard III
Richard III (2 October 1452 – 22 August 1485) was King of England from 1483 until his death in 1485 in the Battle of Bosworth Field. He was the last king of the House of York and the last of the Plantagenet dynasty. His defeat at Bosworth Field, the last decisive battle of the Wars of the Roses, marks the end of the Middle Ages in England. He is the subject of the fictional historical play Richard III by William Shakespeare.
When his brother King Edward IV died in April 1483, Richard was named Lord Protector of the realm for Edward's son and successor, the 12-year-old Edward V. As the young King travelled to London from Ludlow, Richard met and escorted him to lodgings in the Tower of London where Edward V's brother Richard joined him shortly afterwards. Arrangements were made for Edward's coronation on 22 June 1483, but before the young king could be crowned, his father's marriage to his mother Elizabeth Woodvillewas declared invalid, making their children illegitimate and ineligible for the throne. On 25 June, an assembly of lords and commoners endorsed the claims. The following day, Richard III began his reign, and he was crowned on 6 July 1483. The young princes were not seen in public after August, and accusations circulated that the boys had been murdered on Richard's orders, giving rise to the legend of the Princes in the Tower.
There were two major rebellions against Richard. The first, in October 1483, was led by staunch allies of Edward IV[1] and also by Richard's former ally, Henry Stafford, 2nd Duke of Buckingham;[2] the revolt collapsed. In August 1485, another rebellion against Richard was led by Henry Tudor and his uncle, Jasper Tudor. Henry Tudor landed in southern Wales with a small contingent of French troops, and then marched through his birthplace, Pembrokeshire, recruiting more soldiers. Henry's force engaged Richard's army and defeated it at the Battle of Bosworth Field in Leicestershire. Richard was struck down in this conflict, making him the last English king to die in battle on home soil, and the first to do so since Harold II was killed at the Battle of Hastings in 1066.TO BE RE INTERNED  ON THURSDAY 26 03 2015  AT CHURCH OF ENGLAND CATHEDRAL LEICESTER ALSO LIVE EVENTS ON -http://www.channel4.com/info/press/news/week-of-exclusive-live-programming-for-burial-of-king-richard-iii-READ MORE -http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_III_of_England

CAN WE HAVE VOLUNTEERCAR SERVICE BACK IN BIDEFORD AREA?

A charity which provides transport to the elderly and disabled has had to shut down due to financial difficulties.
Torridge Community Transport Association issued a statement on Friday saying it was with ‘much regret’ it would cease trading.
A spokesman for the trustees said: “With increasing costs/overheads and declining revenue and funding across the transport sector, Torridge Community Transport Association’s (TCTA) financial position has been deteriorating for some months.
“The organisation has been working hard to try and find solutions to address this and have also worked in conjunction with their main customer, and funder, Devon County Council to try to resolve financial issues.
“Unfortunately cash flow has continued to deteriorate and it has now reached the point where further trading would make it be irresponsible and a breach of insolvency law.
“The trustees therefore have had to make a difficult decision and with much regret, to cease to trade with effect from 30 January 2014 and to instruct Bishop Fleming, Insolvency Practitioners, to assist with placing the company into liquidation.
“It is a sad end to an organisation that has provided a valuable and needed service in the Torridge community.”
TCTA is actively communicating with alternative service providers, to try to salvage some of its services for the community.
This time last year, the organisation took over the running of the Pannier Market Hopper in Bideford, which will now be operated by Beacon Bus.
The Ring & Ride service will continue but will be operated by Ilfracombe Community Transport Association. Passengers requiring the Ring & Ride service will need to telephone 01271 863630.
The spokesman added: “We are working hard to enable the continuation of the Voluntary Car Scheme, and will announce developments as soon as they are known.
“TCTA would like to take this opportunity to thank all passengers, staff and creditors for their tolerance and patience during this very difficult period.YeS not recent news but i thought i would do a little add on bit.My wife and myself and others like us used this service to get to hospital and doctors appoints  now our costs have increased a journey from northam to barnstaple hospital is a lkeast 25 pounds plus one way so appointments are missed.ONE THING I DONT UNDERSTAND IS WHY NO NEW SERVICE ,NO KICK UO ,WHERE DID MONEY GO AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO WISHES TO HAVE AN ANSWER
