It was a average day before the eve of Halloween in the year of our Lord 2019 , at Holsworthy Devon.
Tracy Connor awakens from a vivid nightmare wherein she is attacked by a disfigured man wearing a wolf's head mask in decayed clothes who wears a wolves claw glove on his right hand.
Like all nights at first she thought it is not real but as Her mother enters the room she asks Tracy about the four mysterious slashes on her nightgown.
This disturbs Tracy who wonders why such a horrible dream could be real so she goes to visit her friends following morning and she is consoled by her best friend, Nancy Jones, and Nancy's boyfriend, Andrew Poe.
After their talk The two girls stay over at Tracy's house when her mother has to go out of town.As Tracy and Nancy are beginning their sleepover its interrupted by Tracy's on off boyfriend Steve Cone.
When Tracy falls asleep, she dreams of being chased by the disfigured man again , Steve is awoken by Tracy thrashing and sees to his utter horror before his her being dragged and fatally slashed relentlessly with dark crimson blood oozing all over the bed by an unseen force; he flees as Nancy awakens to find Tracy covered in blood and dead.
Later that afternoon Steve is arrested by Nancy's father, Lieutenant Mark Thompson a policeman based at Holsworthy Police Station, despite his pleas of innocence.
As Steve awaits in his cell ,he feels his eyes getting heavy and the call of the sandbag becomes too strong and finally be sleeps.
Steve begins to dream of when he was At school being part of a gang who liked the name of Holsworthy Mafia as their liked to bully and cajole the kids of a different colour often telling them to go home and disguise it as satire if a teacher was nearby.
Steve is then alone among his endless victims who corner him and knock him unconscious .
Steve awakens tried and gagged to a chair in front of him is a person in a dark hood holding a redhot poker in the design of a inverted Hindu sign as seen during world war two .
Steve s shirt is ripped open and the result poker is placed on his chest leading to muffled screams of agony as his flesh is burning and gives off the odour of burnt pork.
The hooded figure reveals his wolf heads mask and let's out a haunting manic laugh.
Steve wakes up in his cell ,tips open his shirt to reveal the the marking on his chest and tried to let a scream but is mute.
At Holsworthy College , Nancy falls asleep in class and dreams that the man, who calls himself Freddy The Freak,chasing her to the boiler room where she is cornered and burns her arm on a pipe. The burn startles her awake in class and she notices a burn mark on her arm.
At home, Nancy falls asleep in the bathtub and is nearly drowned by Freddy the Freak.
Nancy goes visit Steve at the police station,but is told that she is unable to see him due to the fact he was taken to the mental health ward in the hospital due fact he was disturbed by a burn Mark on his chest which was not found .
Nancy is finding hard to sleep and decides to invite Glen to watch over her and try to keep.her awake as she was afraid to dream.Both Nancy and Glen fall asleep.
In her dream, she sees a rerun of how Steve in his cell is tortured by the placing of the result poker by Freddy the Freak but then he turns his attention towards her.
Nancy runs away and wakes up when her alarm clock goes off.
Freddy the Freak visit s Steve again and this time he kills him by wrapping bed sheets around his neck like a noose. Nancy and Glen find his body hanging in his cell.
At Steve s funeral, Nancy's parents become worried when she describes her dream about Freddy the Freak
. Her mother, Marge, takes her to a sleep disorders clinic, where, in a dream, Nancy grabs Freddy the Freak hat and pulls it from the dream into reality.
Marge begins to drink and smoke heavily and bars the windows at home. She reveals to Nancy that Freddy the Freak was an insane child murderer who was released on a technicality and then burned alive by parents (who lived on their street) seeking vigilante justice.
Nancy realizes that Freddy the Freak is now a vengeful entity that desires revenge and to satiate his psychopathic needs.
She tries to call Glen to warn him, but his father prevents her from speaking to him.
Glen falls asleep and is killed by Freddy the Freak who watched the large fountain of blood released in Glens room and just smiles under his wolves mask.
Now alone, Nancy puts Marge to sleep by drugging her coffee and asks Mark , who is across the street investigating Glen's death, to break into the house in twenty minutes as She may need his help.
Mark is left a bit baffled by this request but says yes to give Tracy peace of mind.
Tracy rigs booby traps around the house, and decides in her next dream to grab Freddy the Freak out of the dream and into the real world.
The booby traps affect Freddy the Freak enough that Nancy is able to light him on fire with a Molotov cocktail and lock him in the basement. Nancy rushes to the door for help. The police arrive to find that Freddy the Freak has escaped from the basement.
Nancy and Don go upstairs to find a burning Freddy the Freak smothering Marge in her bedroom. After Don puts out the fire, Freddy the Freak and Marge vanish into the bed.
When Don leaves the room, Freddy the Freak rises from the bed behind Nancy.
Realizing finally that Freddy the Freak is powered by his victim's fear, Nancy calmly turns her back to him and Freddy the Freak evaporates when he attempts to lunge at her.
Nancy steps outside into a bright and foggy morning where all of her friends and her mother are still alive. She gets into Glen's convertible to go to school and then the top suddenly comes down and locks them in as the car drives uncontrollably down the street. Three girls in white dresses playing jump rope are heard chanting Freddy the Freak nursery rhyme as Marge is grabbed by Freddy the Freak through the front door window.
The end ,but no Tracy wakes up to find herself in bed and the clock is reading Two minutes to midnight,it's nearly Halloween,time for nightmare s to begin thinks Freddy the Freak watching over her in the darkest corner of her room ,it's been a year since last time he came out to play.
