Morbius A Film Review

I recently watched this film not knowing what to expect as it was very critically said to be one of the worst films made about Marvel Comics.

So my expectations were low so I decided to watch it as what I like to call a Popcorn film, watch it once.

The main character Morbius(Jared Leto) suffers from a rare blood illness and is staying in a sort of school when he meets Lucien (Matt Smith)who he becomes instant friends with and renames, Milo.

Then we see the usual fast-forward time bit, Morbius is now a Nobel Prize winner for his work with synthetic blood.

The film then gets a series of disjointed scenes the first being when Morbius goes to a vampire bat cave in Costa Rica to capture them for his secret experiment, something about the vampire bat's ability to get Blood have to admit this bit baffled me.

Then a burrowed screen straight out of a film about Dracula, we are on a container ship International waters where you sort of guess straight away whatever experiment is going down it's going to be wrong a  common theme in Marvel Comics.

The experiment does go the wrong Morbius injects himself and becomes a mixture of vampire bat and a man kills the crew apart from his assistant who he loves.

He tells Milo he is not himself anymore and decides to see how not to drink red blood.

Milo then visits his friend in his new laboratory and sees his transformation and wants it for himself, so he steals one of the serums.

To cut to the chase as you could probably fast forward the film and would not miss much apart from the special effects, echoing, changing into bat-like creatures, or a mix of zombie vampires.

Milo becomes a bad guy as he likes the red blood as it makes him strong, there is in the film the story of Morbius blaming himself for spreading Vampirism but it is a bit unforgettable.

Then we get finally to the final conflict between good and evil and quite frankly, the best bit of the whole film.

Morbius and Milo have a battle with Milo winning we then get for some bizarre reason never explained Morbius summoning an army of vampire bats to deal with Mili, Morbius then injects Milo with antibodies , he made during the film, and then his girlfriend who was killed in the battle between a good and evil is revived as she ingested a bit of Morbius blood and she is now a vampire a way to get a second film I suspect.

Then we get Morbius to accept he is a vampire and roll end credits.

It is up to you if you stay the course to watch the end credits if not worth it.

Final verdict

I would not watch this film again too disjointed only liked the special effects, the fact Matt Smith played a bad guy, and the final battle scenes, so I going to say watch an at your peril the critics were right.
