Poor Mr Phil Nolan was most unfortunate with his up bringing its so sweet he turned out to be such a grateful and gentleman dispite being raised by his deranged sister.
Years  pass and he developed his skills as an artist and due his reputation for excellence he was asked to do some work at England Abbey for Lady Emily England.
Through talking to each other each day this unlikely couple rapidly succumbed to thier incredible passion for each other.
Finally thier were to get married but on thier wedding day a fire starts in the attic and knowing his beloved Emily was up 8n this room to prepare to dressing her grandmother s silk wedding dress he in state of panic flees from the church to escape to the breezy moors .
He is rescued by a passing Shepherd who takes him to spend time with him and his daughter.
Back at England Abbey Emily is alive and being blinded by the fire and thinking her lover no longer cares for  her ,she becomes proud and snooty and uses alcohol for comfort, in her dreams she is haunted by  Phil wandering the moors looking for her in a haze of fog but never finding  each other.

Meanwhile,  still  thinking  Emily dead, Phil accepts a marriage proposal from his saviour the Shepherd s daughter for he was fickle  when it came to falling  in love.
However, one night he believes he can hear Emily calling, "Phil, where are you? Phil come home!"  In his dreams  so he decides to leave the Shepherd s daughter and presue his true love and he returns to England Abbey.
On Phil's return, he finds Emily drunk and without sight,Mistaking him for a rogue  of  she attacks him with a candlestick  and Phil Nolan dies.
As she attends to the body, Emily realises what she has done. Driven mad with guilt, she  dies of consumption two weeks later.
Thus ends another tragedy of a love story.
