Scientists in South Asia struggle to understand heatwave

Scientists in India and Pakistan say higher temperatures were just one factor behind the recent heatwaves and other causes have yet to be established.
They say low air pressure, high humidity and an unusually absent wind played key roles in making the heat unbearable but they do not know why such conditions prevailed at this time of the year.
The temperature forecast for the heatwave peak in Karachi last week was 43C, according to meteorologists in Pakistan.
The prediction was accurate but other factors made the heat feel unbearable, they say.
More than 1,000 people have died in Pakistan in the worst heatwave in three decades.
In neighbouring India, the official death figure exceeded 2,000, although reported cases were put at more than 3,000.READ MORE-http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-33288311

Drastic action to save endangered tortoise

In a desperate bid to save one of the world's most endangered animals, conservationists are taking the controversial step of defacing the last survivors. Ploughshare tortoises are highly prized for their distinctive gold and black shells and fetch exceptionally high prices on the international black market. Efforts to steal the animals from their native Madagascar are so relentless that there may only be less than 500 left. So the tortoises are now having their shells permanently engraved with a large serial number together with the initials "MG" for Madagascar. The hope is that deliberately making the animals less attractive will reduce or even eliminate demand for them. When the idea was first raised, it faced vigorous opposition from many in the conservation movement, the Madagascar government and also staff within the charity involved, the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust-READ MORE AND SEE VIDEO-http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-33096261

Gregen Jackson AN INTERVIEW

Hi Mark...Sorry it's only coming in so late. I do apologise for my dragging of feet! My computer crashed so had to write this on my smart phone. Feel free to edit if there are any errors. I also did thi while on copious amounts of medication for bronchial infection. Q: What inspired me to become a Professional Speaker/Ancient Alien Theorist? A: As far back as I can remember I have been fascinated by the fairytales, myths and historical stories of the ancient people's and places of the past. I have these incredibly vivid memories of sitting at Minorah Nursery School listening to my teacher - way back when, and being completely immersed in those ancient tales of god's, monsters and men. Those ancient stories struck a cord in me - something deep inside resonated...And that's when it all began, my love and passion for storytelling and Human History. Nursery school was a great place and a fantastic way to seed a young, fertile mind with thoughts and ideas of other world's, and the mysterious origin of mankind.... In 1986 I got to see Halleys Comet - I remember looking up at that clear African night sky and thinking: "How amazing the universe was...how Big, and Strange, and Odd it was...Looking at that Wandering, Celestial traveller streak across the sky, its long silvery tail streched out behind it, all ablaze as it hurtled through the cosmos on its journey around the Sun - and realising for the very first time -(like a virgin), that with all that vastness of space, the countless stars and galaxies - it was impossible for us the human race to be alone...That there was so much more out there - more than what the eye, and the mind could conceive - endless possibilities! In the vast ocean of space and time... That was the beginning - I guess you could say that it was many things over a long period of time, that led me to being a Professional Speaker and Ancient Alien theorist-( which is my hobby). Books I have read, people I have spoken to, events and experiences I have had - they all add up to making you...who you are. It's the sum total of everything you've experienced over the course of your life - including your inherited genetical makeup, that truly makes you a unique individual. But if I had to find the place it all started, it would be those formative years of Nursery school, and seeing Hamlets comet in 1986, that really had an impact - where, and when this long and exciting journey began! Q: What are your aims? A: In today's World of eight billion or so people...its hard to know in which direction to turn -The fast paced hustle and bustle of life - from the high flyers to the low life's - from the beauty queens to the hasbeens...It can get really confusing as to what your aims in this life should be. Humanity is teetering on the brink of disaster - one step forward and we all go over the edge - a spiralling fall into the abyss of biological obscurity! I aim for a brighter and better future for mankind - a future of prosperity and enlightenment for all - a unified approach to the World's problems...We are all in this mess together, and every single one of us is responsible for the way things are! So I guess my aim in this life would have to be helping my fellow man understand that a new way of thinking is needed...If we are to have any hope as the human race, at making our way from the edge of almost certain annihilation. What we face collectively as a people, is something that is unprecedented in the entire history of our existence. It's a Revolution calling...its time to make a change. A new kind of vision is due. It's We the people - What once was, can be no longer be...It's now or never for the human race! Q: What plans do you have for the future? A: I have many plans for the future - They say: Life happens while your making them though! I'm busy writing my first book, so hopefully you'll be able to read it, in the not too distant future. I take each day as it comes. I'm trying to simply enjoy the Ride, and make sense of all this madness that envelopes this World...there's no point in getting your panties in a twist, over the Game that's being played - just play the game, and always remember that it's just a Game! Nothing more, nothing less... I still look up to the stars, and see the endless possibilities out there in Matrix of existence...It gives me hope and still fills me with that childlike wonder - Dreams of life, dreams of hope, and the dream of the endless source( like the warm embrace of the womb) - the future stretches out in front of me, and I embrace the present, so that I can embrace the Source, and the future! There are no plans - Only hopes and dreams.... Gregen.

ART ,MAN ,AND CRYPTOZOOLOGY

https://uk.images.search.yahoo.com/search/images;_ylt=A9mSs2wqCIdVwQkA1cdLBQx.;_ylu=X3oDMTByZmVxM3N0BGNvbG8DaXIyBHBvcwMxBHZ0aWQDBHNlYwNzYw--?p=ART+AND+CRYPTOZOOLOGY&fr=chr-greentree_ff-THE FIRST TIME MAN STOOD UP AND COULD WALK AND FORM SPEECH I THINK Cryptozoology WAS BORN.AS HE SAW SABRE TOOTH TIGERS  AN  MAMMOTHS  AND MORE WHAT ABOUT THE ART BIT YOU SAY WELL JUST LOOK AT EARLY CAVE DRAWINGS ,ART IS HOW THE PERSON SEES THE SUBJECT AT THE TIME  AND THE PERSON LOOKING AT THE ART SEES THIER OWN WAY.FOLLOWING IS FROM RESEARCH AND NOT MY WRITING AS NOT GIFTED -   Cryptozoology is the study of animals and other creatures that have not yet been accepted by science as real. In other words, it is monster-hunting. Cryptozoologists look for creatures like sea serpents and the yeti, hoping to gather enough evidence to prove that these beings exist. They also look for more commonplace animals, such as the ivory-billed woodpecker, the giant vampire bat, the inflatable hedgehog and the pygmy elephant. Creatures that are under investigation by cryptozoologists are called cryptids. Although cryptozoology doesn't get much respect from other scientific disiplines, it has had some spectacular success stories, including the pongo (now known as the gorilla), the okapi (an animal that looks like a cross between a giraffe and zebra), and the coelacanth (a prehistoric fish thought to be extinct).
Some cryptids resemble extinct animals, such as this ancient aquatic creature from the documentary 'Walking with Monsters'. Copyright by the creators of the documentary.

Cryptozoologists are a specialized branch of monster hunters. Since their ultimate goal is to discover either new species of animal or new subspecies, the science of cryptozoology is rooted in biology. The more a creature shows evidence of being supernatural, the less likely it is that cryptozoologists would be interested in it. Not many cryptozoologists investigate the strangest things like ghostly demon cats, Mothman or werewolves. Ghost hunts are left to the paranormal investigators and a few fringe cryptozoologists. On the other hand, there are very few animals, however mythical they may be, that have never stirred the interest of a cryptozoologist. This is because perfectly real animals have often been obscured by so much folklore that they seemed ridiculous.

Bernard Heuvelmans, the author of the first and most influential book of cryptozoology, On the Track of Unknown Animals, created cryptozoology as a science and separated it from other studies involving anomalies and the paranormal. Earlier writers in the field were more likely to include mythology and folkloric material, and they used the terms "exotic zoology" and "romantic zoology" to describe what they did. Today there are many organizations devoted to cryptozoology, and dozens of books, plus countless individual scientists. Despite this massive amount of interest, most cryptozoologists are underfunded and sink large amounts of their own money into their researches.

Most of the time, cryptozoologists do not work in the field. The creatures they pursue are so rare and elusive that, even if they do exist, any particular expedition is unlikely to encounter one. It is much easier to collect sightings from witnesses who came across the cryptid by accident. Since most cryptids have remained in the realm of the mythical, the main job of cryptozoologists is not to prove that a certain cryptid exists, but rather to collect and analyze as many sightings as possible in order to determine if the available evidence is strong enough to keep the question open.

If they can make a good case for keeping the question open, they may be able to attract zoologists to the problem, which in turn brings the kind of research funding and manpower that has a real chance of uncovering an undiscovered animal. Alas, as soon as an animal becomes truly respectable, it exits the field of cryptozoology. The real science begins when a cryptid is being more seriously investigated by biologists than by cryptozoologists. Because cryptozoology is by definition a speculative science, cryptozoologists often rub shoulders with folklorists, Forteans, paranormal investigators and creationists, whether they want to or not.     This zoo is roughly divided into three sections. Most cryptozoological beings can be classified as humanoids (something like a human), draconic (it reminds you of a dragon) and animals (everything else). Inside these broad classifications you will find many individual creatures. Each creature has a description that defines what it is and where it is seen, plus a list of resources such as books, websites and documentary films that mention the creature. Most of these resources are firmly rooted in cryptozoology, but some of them approach these creatures from a different viewpoint such as that of folklore and mythology.MY EXPERENCE STARTED WHEN I VISITED CFZ CENTRE AT MURTLE COTTAGE WOOLSERY,DEVON HOME OF MR JON DOWNES WHO AT THE TIME I WAS STARTING TO OFFER MY VOLUNTEER SERVICES I HAD A CHAT WITH HIM IN HIS GARDEN AITH RICHARD FREEMAN WHO BOTH VERY PASSIONATE ABOUT THIER SUJECTS,I HAVE HELPED OUT AT CFZ WEIRDWEEKEND WHICH IS A MIXTURE OF SERIOUS AND FUN ABOUT CRYPTOZOOLOGY SUBJECTS AND MORE.I ALSO DO A BLOG  CALLED STRANGEANIMALS-http://strangeanimalsaghostman.blogspot.co.uk/-WHICH RELATES ALOT TO SUBJECT NAD I TOO HAVE DONE A BIT OF ARTWORK IE CARTOONS SOME EVEN PUBLISHED.

Earth 'entering new extinction phase' - US study

The Earth has entered a new period of extinction, a study by three US universities has concluded, and humans could be among the first casualties. The report, led by the universities of Stanford, Princeton and Berkeley, said vertebrates were disappearing at a rate 114 times faster than normal. The findings echo those in a report published by Duke University last year. One of the new study's authors said: "We are now entering the sixth great mass extinction event." The last such event was 65 million years ago, when dinosaurs were wiped out, in all likelihood by a large meteor hitting Earth. "If it is allowed to continue, life would take many millions of years to recover and our species itself would likely disappear early on," said the lead author, Gerardo Ceballos.-READ MORE-http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-33209548The dried out sea bed of the Soyang River in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, northeastern South Korea, 16 June 2015

Harry Achilleos Britains most haunted inn AN INTERVIEW

Harry Achilleos

Harry Achilleos
Britains most haunted inn

I attended a ghost hunt and decided to start my own paranormal company.. As I don't do things half heartedly I then bought one of the most haunted inns in the country. Turning the business around into a profitable concern,I'm now able to concentrate on my idea for a reality paranormal show with several TV companies interested.
I'm hoping it will be a breath of fresh air for paranormal TV.
I'm hoping to be competing with ghost hunters, most haunted by next year.

Kurt Logsdon AN INTERVIEW

Hello Mark sorry to get back to you so late. I have had an interest in the paranormal since I was a teen. All aspects of it everything from ghosts,UFOs,and a bit of cryptozoology. My approach to investigating is done in a skeptical manner but still keep an open mind. I know that sounds a bit cliche these days. But when things kick off in the paranormal sense it has to be looked at what can be a rational explanation. I find groups these days go into an investigation looking for ghosts and other phenomenon I go into it trying to debunk the issue first. This I tend to blame on television shows and other media. Instead of using the word paranormal I like to call it unexplained. Being the on a English team out of Liverpool aand being an Anerican I find to be interesting since I take on there version of investigation. I do feel that groups need to share there findings not on fb but in other ways. For example should I catch an Evp I'll send it to my team and other teams to get there take . Growth is key in the paranormal world is needed I also feel there are no experts or we would already have the answers . Cheers Kurt

Alabama rot: What is the dog disease, how common is it – and what are the symptoms?

Dog owners are being warned to be extra vigilant after a number of dogs have been killed by the flesh-eating disease known as Alabama rot. At least 30 dogs in England have been killed in just 18 months as vets struggle to find a cure. Many more pets are feared to have died from Alabama rot, which was first identified in the US in the 1980s. What is Alabama rot? Also known as cutaneous and renal glomerular vasculopathy (CRGV), it leads to skin lesions, kidney failure and death but the cause remains unknown It was first believed to usually affect greyhounds but a wide range of breeds have now been affected. Why haven't I heard about it before? The disease has been affecting dogs in the US for the past 30 years, according to research published in the British Medica-READ MORE -http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/mystery-disease-killing-dogs-in-england-what-are-the-symptoms-that-owners-should-look--for-10129274.html
