The Spanish Flu

The 1918 influenza pandemic (January 1918 – December 1920; colloquially known as the Spanish flu) was an unusually deadly influenza pandemic, the first of the two pandemics involving H1N1 influenza virus, with the second being the swine flu in 2009.^[1] It infected 500 million people around the world,^[2] or about 27% of the then world population of between 1.8 and 1.9 billion, including people on isolated Pacific islands and in the Arctic. The death toll is estimated to have been anywhere from 17 million^[3] to 50 million, and possibly as high as 100 million, making it one of the deadliest epidemics in human history.^[4][5] Historical and epidemiological data are inadequate to identify with certainty the pandemic's geographic origin.^[2]

Infectious diseases already limited life expectancy in the early 20th century, but life expectancy in the United States dropped by about 12 years in the first year of the pandemic.^[6][7][8] Most influenza outbreaks disproportionately kill the very young and the very old, with a higher survival rate for those in between, but the Spanish flu pandemic resulted in a higher than expected mortality rate for young adults.

To maintain morale, wartime censors minimized early reports of illness and mortality in Germany, the United Kingdom, France, and the United States.^[10][11] Papers were free to report the epidemic's effects in neutral Spain (such as the grave illness of King Alfonso XIII).^[12] These stories created a false impression of Spain as especially hard hit,^[13] giving rise to the pandemic's nickname, "Spanish flu".^[14]

Scientists offer several possible explanations for the high mortality rate of the 1918 influenza pandemic. Some analyses have shown the virus to be particularly deadly because it triggers a cytokine storm, which ravages the stronger immune system of young adults.

 In contrast, a 2007 analysis of medical journals from the period of the pandemicfound that the viral infection was no more aggressive than previous influenza strains. Instead, malnourishment, overcrowded medical camps and hospitals, and poor hygiene promoted bacterial superinfection. This superinfection killed most of the victims, typically after a somewhat prolonged death bed.

This is the tale related  to me by Krist  Pain .
It began when  I was invited  to  attend  the monster's ball and I said to mother  it sucks to be me.
Mother replied Suck it up Buttercup as I got your costume ready and it be very  rude not to attend.

Krist hated the fact  that  the monster s ball was just a excuse to find a vampire  mail order bride as you  see most vampires just wanted to create a bride for the company and the  blood on tap.
Krist attended  the grand ball and thier she met her match in a werewolf.

Thier laugh and dance all night  staring lovingly into each other eyes.
Then the gargoyle tapped her on the shoulder and told the werewolf to go howl  away.
She hated the gargoyle but found herself drawn to him and when asked if she would  take part  in the video  of event with him she said  yes .

Suddenly nocturne falls and a reaper appeared with his long staffed bladed  end and precedes to cut off  both the heads of Krist and the Gargoyle.
The werewolf let's out  a manic laugh and howls with  delight
Freddy the Freak  got his revenge  for Krist  takedown .

'My Near Death Experience' by Mark Antony Raines: Some time ago whilst I was starting to experience being very thirsty and feeling sick, and my mind was getting confused, and I was starting to make not a lot of sense. My wife rang the doctor, who at first said it was just an inner ear infection, but my wife Enid pursued this further and insisted the doctor came to look me over.

I did my shopping trip although I was feeling weak and Weary,
I wondered down the brightly light aisles  on my quest for  the holy grail;
I heard the screaming of delight and the scrumish of fighting,
Only  this and nothing  more
It was like a bleak December with its  dying ember making it like a ghost town outside  the supermarkets  sliding  doors,

Eagerly I wished  the treasure  I seeked to be  upon the shelves;
But I heard a group of women crying ;
No more.
My heart became broken I felt fantastic terrified in the sub conscious  of my brain,
I willed and wished for to be able  once again  to glance at my desire at its rare white radiant beauty,
Still  it hear cries echo no more.

So I departure  was just around  the  corner  when I heard  a rumour that entreated  me to go to  the other supermarket in my deserted  town,
I was like  the last vistor allowed to enter  it's door s;
I came upon a shop assistant and said
dear madam truly my forgiveness I implore,
I beg of you have you  any of the white  gold  in seek ;
But in the shop assistant  eyes there  was darkness and nothing more.

Deep into  the darkness  in my soul i peered,
Doubting was I just dreaming dreams of a living nightmare,
Then a whisper in my ear said I have  what you  seek ,
I turned and saw a dark figure  it not seen  before,
Gesturing  with  its bony hands to follow  it's path for it had the white gold  i required.


I reached  my destination  a shelf  with one white pack of toilet roll sitting  lonely on the cold tin shelf,
Soon as group of other s appeared  all yearning  this prestigious award,
With guardians surrounding  it were were to to take part in a bidding  war ,
As this was the last  one on planet earth  thier be no more.

 So I engaged  in the frenzy,
with absurd  sums of money  placed bids, one was  for one billion  pounds.  The Dark figure  began  a smiling  then broke into a cracking manically laughter at all our expense,
For you  see it was all a elborate ruse just  to get  rich quick  for this dark  figure,
You see  it was but a cardboard tube painted white
All the  people  around  this planet earth  cried
No more Toilet Paper  is to be found.

So I journey home forlorn and bitterly  disappointed,
I sit now on my porcelain  throne  peering  at the empty jaws of cheap tin metal  where  my toilet paper  stood  prided  in place;
How I lothed this toilet paper Apocalypse, 
I ponder  it was said to be ,

Of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, the one named War has gone - at least for a while. But Famine, Pestilence and Death are still charging over the earth. Hunger is a silent visitor who comes like a shadow.
This  is the true apocalypse now, 
So I have  finished  doing my body  function s and have no choice  but to use newspaper  instead.
