Northam is a small town in Devon, England, lying north of Bideford and south of Westward Ho!. It is thought to have been the site of an Anglo-Saxon castle, and is said to have been where Hubba the Dane attacked Devon and was repelled (perhaps by Alfred the Great or by the Earl of Devon). A little over a mile away along the coast is a Village called Appledore. Between the Villages of Appledore and Northam, is 'Bloody Corner' where is a rock called 'Hubba's Rock' which is supposed to be the site where Hubba the Dane was killed by the Anglo-Saxon (or Devonshire) fyrd.

Northam has a King George's Field as a memorial to King George V.
Landscape
Northam Burrows lies adjacent to the Taw Torridge Estuary and is an evocative landscape of saltmarsh and dunes. It is part of the North Devon Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, sits within the North Devon Biosphere, and is a SSSI (Northam Burrows SSSI) It is also home to the oldest golf course in England, the Royal North Devon Golf Club.
Railway
The Bideford, Westward Ho! and Appledore Railway (B,WH&A,R) was most unusual amongst British railways in that although it was built as a standard gauge line it was not joined to the rest of the railway network, despite the London and South Western Railway having a station at Bideford, East-the-Water, meaning on the other side of the River Torridge from the main town.
The line was wholly situated on the peninsula made up of Westward Ho!, Northam and Appledore with extensive sand dunes the Torridge and Taw estuary. Northam station and the line closed in 1917 having been requisitioned by the War Office, and is now used as part of the Tarka Trail cycle route which forms part of the South West Coast Path.
Bus services
Stagecoach 21/21A = Barnstaple to Westward Ho!/Appledore
W.Ho! Buses serve the Square, Sandymere Rd and Atlantic Way. Appledore buses serve Lenards Rd and Churchill Way.

my work is connected with looking after the vunerable and my husband runs his own buisness. i,m happy to support Woolsery in your blog as i feel that the village never died from the lack of the pub . i worked there under Roger and Andre and a 3rd came from outside the village , the rest was holiday trade and the rest was staunch locals. bearing in mind how big the village is its suprising how many village never frequented the pub.
Karen (Jarnagin) Pedroza Host at Spirit Travels radio, Author of Spirit World Paranormal chronicles and Afterlife Investigations interviewed by mark antony raines aka ghostman
What inspired me was my daughter, she had an experience with the paranormal a few year ago that prompted my decision to call in a team and after watching them do their investigation I realized this was something I wanted to do in order to help people with issues with the paranormal. The radio show was in all reality something I hadn't planned on but after numerous interviews and then request to start my own show I decided why not give it a try.
My goals are to expand my radio show to a larger listening audience in time and I also plan on becoming involved in some of the conventions to bring awareness to the dangers of investigating. If I can reach just one person who feels it's something of interest as to why it's so important to not investigate on their own then I have made a difference one person at a time.

Bill has a rather unique perspective by blending what looks like sci-fi or fantasy themes from real life situations of those who have experienced paranormal or ufological visitations. His work is impeccable and continues to be used by some of the most well known researchers and paranormal experts in the business. His integrity is without question and his artwork superb. I highly recommend Bill Burt for any future projects.

Beavers on River Otter in Devon could stay free
Beavers living on the River Otter in Devon could be allowed to remain in the wild if free of disease.
The government had intended to capture six beavers, test for disease and re-home them in captivity.
It is unclear where the beavers came from, but campaigners say they should be allowed to stay.
The government has now indicated that the beavers could be tested near the river and released if disease-free.
In October, environmental charity Friends of the Earth, launched a legal challenge over the government's claim that the beavers were non-native, could be diseased, and should be removed.
It is believed the group, including three juveniles born this year, are the only wild beavers in England.
'Positive steps'
A spokeswoman for the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) said: "Our priority has been to ensure humane treatment for the beavers while safeguarding human health, so we'll be testing the beavers close to the River Otter which will be better for their welfare than moving them elsewhere.red more-http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-30043619

William Hillard-Aymerich INTERVIEWED BY MARK ANTONY RAINES AKA GHOSTMAN
Questions
What inspired you? My inspiration came for the many paranormal events that happened to me in my younger days. From an early age I have been able to sense spirits and at times see them. I later found out from conversations with grandmother that she also shared and had many similar events. One when I was like 5 years old is burned in my memory. Late night going to bed she and I happened to be talking about ghosts. Just being the little stinker that I am I knocked on the wall and asked for a reply… We got one! I knew it was not her because she was on the bed and away from the wall I was next to. It also could not have been anyone else because she and I were alone in the house. It is an event I cannot forget I refer to it in talks as my starting point.
Ghosts are my strong point in the paranormal but also being from Costa Rica and living there for a while I had been witness to many UFO encounters with my cousin Ronald Aymerich. I sometimes wonder if at times both events are connected.
What are your aims? To me this is kind of a selfish journey. I am not here to convince and make anyone believe in the paranormal. It is like faith and a very personal thing. You either believe or you don’t trying to win over converts is a waste of energy. I am doing this because I have had so many experiences that I want to know what they are and were. If it ends up not being ghosts and aliens I am good as long as it is the truth. I am open with my findings th9ugh because I know many are in this for the same reasons and I welcome them on this journey with me. As long as you are open minded and not trying to force your views and opinions on anyone.
I believe in what I call true Paranormal Unity… Where we all speak our opinions and learn from one another. Even if I don’t agree with you, what you say is of value to me because it may fit part of the puzzle of a much larger picture. It may also be a point of view that is more solid than mine. But I see too many people in the field belittle one another just to make their view be the only one, or worse to shine in their own 15 minutes of fame. Many in the Paranormal Unity camp are about unity in only their view. It’s sad; right now we have no clue what we are dealing with, only hypothesis at best. We are not even an established science yet. The paranormal and metaphysics are at best a pseudoscience that is trying to stand up on its own two legs and get credibility to find a manner to be explained in the scientific method. The main issue is that most of us have a refusal to explore our findings and an over-reliance on confirmation rather than refutation… It’s okay though psychology and sociology were in the same boat once so we are in good company. As long as we try to get past getting caught up always believing on the following…
• Common cognitive errors from personal experience (Not all personal experiences are paranormal)
• Erroneous sensationalistic mass media coverage (Not to believe all we see on TV)
• Sociocultural factors (Even though you faith or culture believes in the metaphysical and ghosts. To find the truth we have to put them aside and study as a blank state. Don’t make your belief fit the facts)
• Poor or erroneous science education (Learn some true science and the scientific method! Our goal is to try to find a way to make these experiences studied as science)
Paranormal Unity should be open so we can learn to take these odd things and make them truly something that can be studied and not just gathered as cool evidence. And it is cool!
What plans do you have for the future? I will be going back in to the field investigating some… I have been out of the field in as much as investigating for a while now. Many of us get so caught up in it that we lose touch with family… So I took time off for them. I also will be doing my lecture series in events again for 2015. I am working on dates and location, none arre solid yet. I am hoping to hit the west coast of the US and go across the pond again too. I am also going to complete the second book of some of my paranormal adventures by the fall of 2015

Down syndrome-MY NEPTHEW HAS THIS TO ME HE IS JUST A PERSON LIKE ME
What Is Down Syndrome?
Down syndrome is one of the most common genetic birth defects. Usually, children born with the condition have some degree of mental retardation, as well as characteristic physical features. Many of these children also have other health problems.
Each year in the U.S., approximately one in every 800 to 1,000 newborns has Down syndrome. This results in approximately 5,000 children born with Down syndrome each year.
In the U.S. today, Down syndrome affects approximately 350,000 people. As many as 80% of adults with this condition reach age 55, and many live longer.
The most common form of Down syndrome is often called "trisomy 21," because individuals with this condition have three copies of the 21st chromosome.
What Causes Down Syndrome?
Normally, each cell in the human body contains 23 pairs of chromosomes, which contain the genetic material that determines all our inherited characteristics. We receive half of each chromosome pair from our mother and the other half from our father. Individuals with the most common form of Down syndrome, trisomy 21, have an extra 21st chromosome.
No one knows exactly why this chromosomal error occurs, but it does appear to be related to the age of the mother. At age 25, a woman has a one in 1,250 risk for having a child with Down syndrome. The risk increases to one in 952 at age 30, to one in 378 at age 35, to one in 106 at age 40 and one in 35 at age 45. However, 80% of children born with Down syndrome are born to mothers under the age of 35. This is because most babies, in general, are born to younger women.
Be sure to check with your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant if you have a family history of Down syndrome.

Six Scottish wildcat conservation areas identified AS PART OF MYSTERYCATBLOG
Six priority areas for Scottish wildcat conservation have been identified following research commissioned by Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH).
Wildcats becoming an endangered species due to mixing with domestic cats, disease and loss of habitat.
Thee Angus Glens, Strathbogie in Aberdeenshire, Strathavon in Moray and Morvern, Strathpeffer and Dulnain in the Highlands are the six areas.
The research suggested these were where wildcats had the best chance.
Nine areas were assessed as part of the multi-agency Wildcat Action project. Work to conserve wildcats in the six selected sites is to start next year.
Scientists used live trapping, cameras and analysed cat faeces, hair and skin to determine the presence of wildcats, and wild-living cats.READ MORE-http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-30002335
Scientists develop thought-controlled gene switch
Genes can be switched on using the power of thought, a study reports.
Brainwaves from human participants activated a tiny light which had been implanted in mice.
This LED then activated light-sensitive genes which had been genetically engineered to respond in this way.
The authors report that the technology could one day be used to control pain management or pre-empt epileptic seizures.
Though they noted that this paper was a proof of concept and that any potential therapeutic applications were still a long way off.
Senior author of the work, Martin Fussenegger at ETH Zurich in Switzerland, said it was a huge step forward.
Science fiction
"At first you may ask why should I think something and then control my genes? I could push a button and [also] induce the LED.
"The reason is, we've designed it for potential application for locked-in patients who can no longer communicate with the outside world other than with their mental activities and brainwaves.
"This sounds like science fiction but it's an obvious interconnection of different technologies."READ MORE-http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-29974833
Brain's taste secrets uncovered

Cutlery 'can influence food taste'
Sweet or sour? Duping our taste buds
The brain has specialist neurons for each of the five taste categories - salty, bitter, sour, sweet and umami - US scientists have discovered.
The study, published in the journal Nature, should settle years of debate on how the brain perceives taste.
The Columbia University team showed the separate taste sensors on the tongue had a matching partner in the brain.
The scientists hope the findings could be used to help reverse the loss of taste sensation in the elderly.
It is a myth that you taste sweet only on the tip of the tongue.
Each of the roughly 8,000 taste buds scattered over the tongue is capable of sensing the full suite of tastes.
But specialised cells within the taste bud are tuned to either salty, bitter, sour, sweet or umami tastes.
When they detect the signal, a message is sent to the brain. Although how the brain deals with the information has been up for discussion.
Accounting for taste
A team at Columbia University engineered mice so that their taste neurons would fluoresce when they were activated.
They then trained their endoscopes on the neurons deep at their base of the brain.
The animals were fed chemicals to trigger either a salty, bitter, sour, sweet or umami response on the tongue and the researchers monitored the change in the brain.
They found a "hard wired" connection between tongue and brain.
Prof Charles Zuker told the BBC News website: "The cells were beautifully tuned to discrete individual taste qualities, so you have a very nice match between the nature of the cells in your tongue and the quality they represent [in the brain]."
It scotches the alternative idea that brain cells respond to multiple tastes.READ MORE-http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-29912877
Halyomorpha halys -stink bug is coming
Brown marmorated stink bug
Halyomorpha halys, also known as the brown marmorated stink bug, or simply the stink bug, is an insect in the family Pentatomidae, and it is native to China, Japan and Taiwan. Wikipedia
Scientific name: Halyomorpha halys-this so called stink bug is expected to be visiting british shores.Name is due to the bug giving off a garbage like smell.
The problem for home owners begins in the fall. As the temperatures begin to drop, the stink bugs try to stay warm by clustering on the sides of homes and other buildings. They are particularly fond of the south and west sides of the building because those sides are warmed by the afternoon sun. Many stink bugs will congregate there and they will inevitably work their way into the building through small cracks or crevices, door jams, attic vents, and other gaps in the structure. They are seeking a suitable place to stay warm and spend the winter. Once inside the building, they go dormant and they fully expect to stay dormant until spring. The problem is that every time there is a warm sunny winter day their hiding spot warms up and they think it is spring. After spending the winter months tucked away in the walls or the attic, they have simply forgotten how they got in. In their effort to get back outside they accidently end up inside the home. They don't want to be inside at all. They are merely looking for a way to get outside. This may happen all at once in the spring, or be sporadic all through the winter and spring, depending on the weather.
Dealing With Stink Bugs
“Uughh! What is that smell? It’s these bugs! They really smell foul!” We are hearing this more and more these days. The Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB) has become firmly entrenched here in the U.S. After being accidentally introduced from Asia into Pennsylvania in the late 1990’s, it has quickly spread across the country and become a major pest to both home owners and farmers alike.
Getting Rid of Stink Bugs and Control for homes
Prevention:
The key to getting rid of and eliminating indoor stink bugs in the spring is preventing their entry in the fall. Once they have entered the home, there aren't a lot of treatment options. The easiest way to remove them once they are indoors is with a vacuum cleaner; however the vacuum may take on the characteristic smell of the stink bug. If you’ve had them you know the smell.

Mechanical Exclusion:
Mechanical exclusion is the best method to keep stink bugs from entering homes and buildings. Cracks around windows, doors, siding, utility pipes, behind chimneys, and underneath the wood fascia and other openings should be sealed with good quality silicone or silicone-latex caulk. Damaged screens on doors and windows should be repaired or replaced.
Spraying the exterior of the home early in the fall can offer an additional layer of protection.

Pest Control Treatment for Stink bugs
Products such as D-Fense SC , Cyzmic CS, Bifen IT, Cyper WP, and Demon WP are very effective at preventing the stink bugs from congregating on the side of the home, thus preventing their entry. Timing of the application is important. As the night time temperatures dip into the low 50's or lower you can expect the stink bugs to arrive. Focus on spraying the south and west exposure of the house. The more surface area you cover the better the results will be. This may require the use of a ladder to reach the uppermost areas around the roof. Remember to use proper ladder safety protocol and, as always, be sure to read and follow all label directions for the pesticide you are using.
So keep in mind that while stink bugs are a nuisance they can be dealt with. It's not easy or fun to do but avoiding the stinky smell they bring is worth the effort.

When and Where Stink Bugs Are A Problem

Identification:
Stink bugs can range in colors, but are commonly green or brown. They are about 5/8 inch long. The adults have a triangular thorax. All stink bugs have the characteristic five-sided shield shape. Their eggs are barrel shaped . Sting Bugs nymphs resemble adults in shape but are smaller and have contrasting color patterns
Stink bugs give out a foul odor.
Damage:
Stink bugs feed on plants and shrubbery. Generally thought of as an agricultural pest, stink bugs will take up residence around any garden or landscape rich with plants and flowers.
Stink bugs feed on buds and seedpods, sucking juice from plants. This results from badly formed buds and fruit.
Diet:
Plants are the primary source of food for stink bugs. They feed by sucking on the sap from pods, buds, blossoms and seeds. Some species of stink bugs even feed on juices from caterpillars and beetle larva. They are often crop pests on cabbage, cotton, beans, squash or melons.
Life Cycle and History:
Stink bugs do not reproduce inside, therefore they invade homes from the outside. They go through a simple metamorphosis: egg, nymph, and adult.
There are one to two generations of stink bugs each year .Peak population sizes occur in late September to early October. It is during these months that stink bugs may become agricultural pests. Adults are sometimes dormant in the winter, overwintering in logs, leaf litter or other similar habitats where they are unlikely to be disturbed
Nymphs feed throughout the summer and molt to adults in late summer.
The eggs of a stink bug can be found on the underside of leaves in clumps of 20-30 eggs. Adults mate in the spring and females will lay eggs on plants. These eggs will be laid in groups and are not plant specific. The eggs are oval in shape, ranging from light yellow to a yellowish-reddish color, equipped with tiny spines forming fine lines along the eggs. The nymphs, similar in appearance to the adult stink bug, are differentiated by its lack of wings. From the nymph stage, the stink bug will molt (5 stages)before becoming a full grown adult. They take a couple months to mature.
Due to milder temperatures the South has the highest populations.

VALENTINA Lomborg (GhostGirlCrew@verizon.net) interviewed by mark antony raines aka ghostman
what inspired you?I am not sure INSPIRED is the right word. I was never INSPIRED per se to be a psychic. It is not something people set out to be as a career. Events throughout my childhood and a physical accident in my 20’s left me falling into this ‘duty’ to the world I would call it.wah are your aims?
I don’t have any ‘aims’ either, I just want to prove to as many people as possible, that there IS LIFE AFTER DEATH. I plan to do that by sharing all my experiences, showing my evidence and continuing my extensive research.what plans do you have for the future?Does anyone really make plans for the future anymore?! lol. I am currently writing my first book on the paranormal experiences and cases I have been on. From there I hope to follow up with a second one dealing more with the dark side of the paranormal.
Where life takes me? We shall see!
