The demise of James Hill by Mark Antony Raines

THE DEMISE OF JAMES HILL BY MARK ANTONY RAINES

It’s 3012 AD. The Earth has long been left behind as uninhabitable. James Hill retired special forces   enjoys his quiet new employment as art appraiser on Tethys, one of Saturn’s lovely terraformed moons.

He’s a staunch agnostic, which makes him stand out; most of Tethys’ population ascribe to one of two religions: the Cats, who believe that mankind should stop exploring and be content with the two dozen or so moons and planets occupied, and the Dogs, who hold to a sort of demented Manifest Destiny that humankind should populate the whole universe.

Hill ignores all of this ninety percent of the time; unfortunately, when he walks into the museum late one night to inspect a possible forgery of 1000-year-old Martian sculpture, he finds two dead bodies: the leaders of the Cats and Dogs, respectively.

Each side blames the other for their leader’s death, and before long, the arguments erupt into violence.

There are innocents on this small moon; there aren’t any major forms of government, or military presence.

As the tensions grow thicker and the body count grows higher, James Hill finds himself coming out of retirement to save the innocents on this moon who are about to be caught in the crossfire.

The Cats and Dogs may be out for blood, but they’ve never encountered anything like James Hill so each decided to form a pact to get rid of him so thier could go back to thier old feed without interference form human kind who to them were brutal none caring former apes.

So the dogs and cats sent up a trap by placing a stooge in a bar that James Hill frequented as he was a bit of a piss head when drunk prone to violence.

So a the bar the stooge Salford a big ginger tom deliberately boosted of a planned attack against the dogs at a near by abandoned farm house knowing thus would pique James Hill interest.

Later the next day James Hill arrived at the derelict farm house and scanned the area for his intended targets but it seemed unearthly quiet so sleathly  he went towards the farmhouse door which was hanging from its frame as the hinges had rusted .

He entered the building which was in  plutonium darkness so he reached for his trusted torchlight which when he put on he realised he was surrounded by cats and dogs and he had no station wagons to form a circle like in the old western side he watched in his caravan.

Before he could reach for his weapons to defend myself the cats had leaped at his eyes tearing them out by the socket s until thier dangling like a pair of bizarre dice.

The dogs gnawed at his arms and legs to point of ripping them off and chewing them to the bare bones which out of canine behaviour still in thier DNA dispite generation s of mutations used  thier paws to bury them .

So having now got James as a cadaver thier decide to hang his body with its skin removed and its head on a spike and etched on its torso was

HUMAN'S ARE DEAD.

So each went back to fighting each other until decades later the mice ruled but that's another story for a later date.

Kudos to Rains for having the courage to get up and write this book! Marvelous work!

It reminded me of the early days when children were abused in school by teachers using the strap or some form of beaten instrument to punish children.

The author paused and said, “Just give a bad review and save people from reading the book.

      And I’m thankful that I didn’t listen.

God didn’t make us all perfect and your life Matters, Mark Anthony Raines, or’ Ghostman’ you belong here in this world. He made us in His own image!

As you mentioned, “the game of life is hard to play” that is what we are doing playing this game.

You are an inspiration to me and others. You lifted us up when we had problems in this world of games.

      Thank you!
