Dead centre

We are based in North Devon, we are all original songs with a heavy rock/metal influence,

we have been gigging around the local area for a couple of years and have recently spread our wings to play in the fleece in Bristol and the cobblestones in Bridgewater.

We have had the opportunity to support upcoming bands Scarsun and Fury as well as renowned tribute acts Metallica reloaded and Hells Bells.

here is a link to our Facebook page which features a few recent live videos https://www.facebook.com/Deadcentreofficial

What is your creative process when making music?

usually starts with someone writing a riff or chorus at home and then we tend to develop the idea as a group in the rehearsal room to see if its something we can eventually add to the setlist, but every decision regarding songs is always discussed as a band.

Tell me about your top performances.

I think that our latest show at The Cobblestones in Bridgewater has to be the show where we felt everything clicked as a band, the venue was correct, the audience was engaging and playing alongside the other bands Rockabye Reaper and Nomad Lizard just added to that energy on the night.

Who would you most like to collaborate with artistically?

That's a difficult one as everyone has so many different influences musically, Jody the guitarist would love to work with Jim Root or Josh Fore & Diamond Rowe from Tetrarch.

How do you deal with disinterested or unruly audiences?

We have been pretty lucky where we haven't had to deal with any unruly audiences yet, but we have had other acts not even really bother to stick around and watch our set even though we have spent the time to check out all the other bands playing on the night.

What are your favourite venues to perform at?

The Cobblestones, The Golden Lion Tap Barnstaple, The Palladium Club Bideford.

What inspires you as an artist?

Being proud of writing all our own material with no cover songs

How do you nurture your own creativity?

We have always been able to stick to our own style without too many boundaries as far as song writing goes as everyone is in involved with the process of writing songs.

Do you have trouble with performance anxiety?

Our drummer Luke Hynes is always really calm before going onstage as is everyone else apart from our guitarist Jody gets anxiety quite badly before stepping out onstage and also really likes just to go and hide after a performance too.

What are your favourite musical genres, and are there any you dislike?

There really isn't too much that we don't like, our vocalist Matt really has a ecliptic taste in music but also guitarist Nick and drummer Luke also have a broad range of music that they like, but we all agree that there is just too much over produced music by so called artists that have never wrote their own songs and the general public is kind of force fed what they should be listening too

How do you differ from most other artists?

We don't feel that we differ that much from other bands that write and practice their songs

Joe Hicks-https://linktr.ee/newlovenewlow.

In the local music scene of North Devon, up-and-coming artist Joe Hicks is making waves with his project ‘New Love New Low’. Combining emotive and melodic hooks with pop punk roots, the music has been described by fans as ‘indie anthems in the making’.

On June 2nd, Joe released his latest single ‘Wasting Time’, which has been met with overwhelmingly positive reviews online. The single follows his first release of 2023, ‘Video Games’, which was already praised by BBC Introducing.

Joe is now looking to expand his reach by gigging locally in September. We caught up with Joe to have a chat about his sound and what we can expect from his upcoming shows.

“My goal with New Love New Low is to create music that evokes emotion in the listener. I take my inspiration from a range of genres, from punk to pop, – combining all these different elements to create something different.

“I’m looking to gig in local venues so people can experience the music first hand. My set will include a selection of songs from Wasting Time, Video Games and some other unreleased songs I’m working on.

“I’m excited to perform to new audiences around North Devon and can’t wait to share this music with the world.”

Make sure you catch Joe Hicks and New Love New Low at a venue near you this September! You can find links to his latest singles and social media pages here: https://linktr.ee/newlovenewlow.
