The Ring of Power
What's it about?
Set thousands of years before the hobbit novels by Tolkien.
It starts at the second age when 20 rings were forged.
Most of the script are a secret but expect the following raging battles between elves , dwarves , humans and monstrous orcs.
Also treacherous journeys across mountains, swords clanging against helmets and short man with impressive breads
Is it based on Tolkien's books?
The script was inspired by by appendices ,unpublished material and poems by Tolkien.
Cost of production
This series dubbed the most expensive ever made is reported to cost 200 million.
The Power of the Ring
Amazon Prime
4 out 4 stars
We see in the first two episodes beautiful New Zealand scenery, intricate sets and fantastial costumes.
The plot and the characters come thick and fast , the history behind the series is a bit rushed and as an member of the audience are expected to know the significance of north, south, west, east each pronounced by the characters with furrowed brows.
We see the relatives of the hobbits called Harfoots.
The stand out character is young Galadriel played by Morfydd Clark who lens much emotion in her lines.
But by far my most favourite character is the wise elf who is a sword-carrying fighter able to dispatch a troll with a few strikes.
You could say this series is precious.
