CHRONIC BY PAUL LIMA 5 STAR RECOMMENDED
Four people with various maladies--multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease,
cancer, paraplegia--move in to a flat together. Life happens.
Chronic Readers React...
"If this book were a movie, the cleaners would have to mop up buckets of tears. Of joy. Of laughter. And yes, of sadness. I'm lucky I had a box of tissues close by."
"You cracked my heart, and then fixed it. Broke my heart, and then repaired it. Smashed my heart, but somehow left me feeling that it was fully mended."
"I don't know if it's because I have MS, but I laughed, cheered, and cried.
Sometimes all three in the same chapter."
"You don't have to be sick to love this book."
"The book was simple, yet profound and soul searching."
"I had to pause at the end of the final chapter, and have a good cry. Mostly tears of joy. Once composed, I read the epilogue. And damn it, if I was not in tears again."
"As a cat lover, 'kitty' was my favorite part of a mighty fine book!"
About the Book
Paul and Deena are friends with MS and Parkinson's Disease respectively. They've found a wonderful flat renovated for people with disabilities, only they can't afford it. Enter Albert, a former nurse with cancer, and Bolton, an athletic paraplegic. They too look at the flat, and love it. But can't afford it. The solution? The four of them move in together. And life happens.
Paul, who has retired from motivational speaking, is motivated into accepting another talk, while working on his painting. Bolton, a former sprinter, tries out for the wheelchair racing team and wheelchair basketball team, while setting up his web design business. Deena, a former PhD student, needs help with her renovation business. Instead of helping to heal people, which he did as a nurse, Albert begins to help Deena heal houses.
Our main characters also have to sort out issues with former partners, some of whom have broken up on good terms and some on terms that were not so good, all while dealing with their maladies, and helping each other deal with their chronic issues. In short, illness does not make life, especially if you are determined to live as full a life as possible, despite your malady. And that is just what Paul, Deena, Albert and Bolton try their damnedest to do.

THE PLANET BY MARK ANTONY RAINES
A long, long time ago in a galaxy so far away it would take a earthlings spacecraft at a billion years just to get to the edge of it so I don't expect we see them soon in the universe is very ginger, ginger galaxy...
Sitting on his chair watching his student group of wizards fly around .
Epsilon Eridani was happy their technical skills then a dot appears like a speck in the distance .
Suddenly his idyllic life was shattered as the speck grew bigger and resolves into a wobbly ancient decrepit space station.
Aboard this space station were a race of Rurally Elfs who had travelled the universe to discover and conquer other planets then leave them devoid of resources and destroy all known life just for the sheer fun of it.
The space station was ruled by Albert Randall who love of fraud; gruesome greed of wanting everything you had like a spoilt child who loved assassination which he used to control his underlings.
At this very point Civil war strikes the galaxy.
Using his last of his magic Epsilon Eridani appeared in front of the robot Andrew who was the protector of the Empire s boss Princess Susan you should have seen her face it was picturesque.
The wizard informs them of the invasion of the space station and the civil war that has broken out among the wizards and the horrible elf like creatures.
So all of them head to the main capital on the planet of Klendathu.
But when arrive are ambushed so Andrew breaks out his ginger rifle to defend Princess Susan as a fight breaks out ;at first Andrew is winning the day but more numbers of Elfs arrive heavily armed.
The poor old wizard is killed and knowing that defeat was in the air Andrew and Princess Susan decide to do want all people say do in this situation was to leave Klendathu via the escape rocket build centuries ago for such a situation.
As they go towards the rockets hip they encounter the whole tribe of Elves with their leader Albert Randall at its helm.
The robot and the Princess Susan are captured and retaken back to the capital Exeter.
At the city the victors what the spoils of winning the war and Albert wishes the Princess to be his bride until he gets his wicked way then he will just kill her like all the rest of his conquest s.
Andrew despite bring battered and seriously damaged challenges Albert to a fight knowing that he would accept due to his pride and the odds stacked in his favour.
As ancient gladiators of old Abert and Andrew enter the arena all suited and armed to the teeth staring at each other in a bizarre game of a Mexican standoff.
Just as the fight is going to start a crumpled piano unearths in the middle of the arena both Andrew and Albert are stunned and confused to want this meant.
A awful tune is produced by this crumpled piano and in a puff of smoke and quite a lot of dust the entire once idyllic galaxy disappeared into a dot of a dot on a speck of a finger of a giant playing a crumpled piano very badly making the audience ears bleed.
The giant finish s playing his favourite piece the Planet and bows to audience and calm y walks of the stage to a chorus of boos.
The end or is it the beginning of a new saga who knows who cares.
Meanwhile in a small town in Devon on the planet Earth Mark finished his very odd science fiction story and let out a sigh of relief.
