Rebecca Bea Thompson is an experienced speaker, writer, consultant, facilitator and coach with more
than 30 years
in the manufacturing, aerospace, and healthcare industries. She has been an internal and
external consultant for many years, working with such companies as Eastman Kodak, General Motors,
and Blue Cross Blue Shield North Carolina, mostly in the fields of leadership and team development,
work systems redesign, organizational change, and culture change. Currently, she is the principal of
Evolve Without Limits, a coaching and consulting practice.
But that is only part of her story. The rest is a chronicle of personal courage and spiritual expansion that
defies conventional wisdom. From an engineer skeptic, she made a fascinating right turn.
Frustrated by her (now ex-) husband’s increasing alcoholism, Rebecca embarked on a healing journey
which led her to explore a variety of spiritual practices. She learned how to love herself, and found
freedom from a situation in which she thought she was stuck. Along the way she became a Reiki master,
certified Crystal Therapist, and Shamanic coach, and incorporates these areas of expertise into her
consulting and coaching practice. But it’s her talks with the moon that will amaze you!
Rebecca tells that story in her new book Rebecca Rising: How I found courage and self-love through
friendship, coaching and conversations with the moon, a memoir chronicling her healing journey.
In addition, she and her friend and colleague Darlene Ryan co-authored Sunday at 8:30: Two Decades
of Life Planning. That book shares the life planning process Darlene and Rebecca personally used and
honed for over twenty years, and includes helpful worksheets for creating your own life plan.
Rebecca is passionate about helping people to learn about self-love, to recognize their own strength,and to live with freedom, passion, and intention.

Becky married her college sweetheart and thought she would be married for life. Thirty years later, she had 3 grown children and a successful career, but her marriage was failing. Her husband was becoming increasingly un-employable as he sank deeper into alcoholism. She was unhappy, but she didn’t think she had the confidence or wherewithal to make it on her own.

Like most people, I always thought I had a novel or two in me. But I never got a chance until my mid-forties. By that time, I had spent more than two decades in the ad biz, writing every imaginable type of promotional material: TV and radio commercials, brochures, press releases, newsletters, you name it. It paid the bills but none of it was for me. Excellent training, though. It teaches you how to get to the point fast.
I tell people that writing novels about Las Vegas is how I handled my midlife crisis. Safer than a Harley and cheaper than a divorce. Beyond that, I wanted to write books that really capture what it’s like to live in this crazy town. Most books and movies about Las Vegas are written by “carpetbaggers,” folks who come here for a week or two and think they’ve got a handle on this place. Impossible.
There’s no other city in the world like ours. We try to pretend it’s normal, and in some ways it is. But then you’ve got the gambling. In the convenience stores and Laundromats and coffee shops. Not to mention a casino on every corner. This is a company town, no less than Detroit, or Hershey, Pennsylvania. Most of us have a love/hate relationship with it. In some ways, it’s like selling your soul to the devil. I try to put some of that in my books.
My characters are all loosely based on real-life people. This town is a wealth of material. For any writer, all you have to do is keep your eyes open and take notes.

Dr. Joye Jeffries Pugh is an alumnus of South Georgia College, Valdosta State College, and Nova University where she received her doctorate in education. Her background involves working as a researcher, counselor, mental retardation professional, human services director, and consultant. Dr. Pugh appears in several television documentaries on the HISTORY Channel concerning end times.
