The Sleet that Raines Talking Pigeons by Mark Antony Raines Comedy Friendly Zombie Production 2019

The Sleet that Rained like Talking Pigeons

The Sleet that Rained like Talking Pigeons

A Short Story
by Mark Antony Raines

Suki MacDonald looked at the solid sandwich in her hands and felt angry.
She walked over to the window and reflected on her derelict surroundings. She had always loved industrial Upper Boggington with its kooky, kaleidoscopic kettles. It was a place that encouraged her tendency to feel angry.
Then she saw something in the distance, or rather someone. It was the figure of Hannah Doop. Hannah was a spiteful coward with wide fingernails and vast arms.
Suki gulped. She glanced at her own reflection. She was a daring, stupid, whiskey drinker with hairy fingernails and moist arms. Her friends saw her as an abundant, adorable animal. Once, she had even saved an agreeable baby bird that was stuck in a drain.
But not even a daring person who had once saved an agreeable baby bird that was stuck in a drain, was prepared for what Hannah had in store today.
The sleet rained like talking pigeons, making Suki confident.
As Suki stepped outside and Hannah came closer, she could see the jealous smile on her face.
Hannah gazed with the affection of 7932 friendly freezing flamingos. She said, in hushed tones, "I love you and I want a pencil."
Suki looked back, even more confident and still fingering the solid sandwich. "Hannah, I'm in love with you," she replied.
They looked at each other with confident feelings, like two bright, breezy bears jumping at a very kind bar mitzvah, which had flute music playing in the background and two clumsy uncles walking to the beat.
Suki studied Hannah's wide fingernails and vast arms. Eventually, she took a deep breath. "I'm sorry," began Suki in apologetic tones, "but I don't feel the same way, and I never will. I just don't love you Hannah."
Hannah looked sparkly, her emotions raw like a plain, powerful piano.
Suki could actually hear Hannah's emotions shatter into 9424 pieces. Then the spiteful coward hurried away into the distance.
Not even a glass of whiskey would calm Suki's nerves tonight.
THE END
