Matthew Weeks is said to haunt Bodmin Jail .Matthew Weeks   was crippled farmhand who was arrested for the murder of his lover Charlotte Dymond, whose body was found on Roughtor, Sunday April 14th 1844 he was hanged .
 On th anniversary of Matthew Weeks hanging the ghost of Charlotte Dymond  is seen wearing a gown and a bonnett.
Selina Wadge arrested for the murder of her youngest son Harry in 1878.


Another former prisoner, whose spirit has remained earthbound at Bodmin Jail is Selina Wadge, who was arrested in 1878 for the murder of her youngest son, Harry.
At her trail the jury found her guilty but asked for leniency due her taken good care of children and it was her Lover James Westward who wished the child dead if She She married him but the Judge Justice Denman disagreed an sentenced Selina Wedge to death.
She told a constable that she had been urged to murder him by her lover James Westwood, who had promised to marry her if the boy was out of the way.
Westwood strenuously denied this, claiming he had nothing against the boy.
At her subsequent trial the jury found Selina  Wedge guilty, although they recommended leniency on the grounds that she had taken good care of her children and that, in their opinion, the murder had not been premeditated.
Selina Wedge went to her hanging On 15 August 1878 holding a white handkerchief whilst On the scaffold she uttered her last words.
"O Lord deliver from this miserable world"
 Vistors have heard the ghost of Selina Wedge wandering Bodmin Prison ,small child often ask about the crying lady in the long dress.
Pregnant women when visiting the third and fourth floors of Bodmin Jail can get very emotional .
