Nasa scientists find evidence of flowing water on Mars

Liquid water runs down canyons and crater walls over the summer months on Mars, according to researchers who say the discovery raises the odds of the planet being home to some form of life.
The trickles leave long, dark stains on the Martian terrain that can reach hundreds of metres downhill in the warmer months, before they dry up in the autumn as surface temperatures drop.
Images taken from the Mars orbit show cliffs, and the steep walls of valleys and craters, streaked with summertime flows that in the most active spots combine to form intricate fan-like patterns.
Scientists are unsure where the water comes from, but it may rise up from underground ice or salty aquifers, or condense out of the thin Martian atmosphere.

Brian was a tough paratrooper. He trained hard for his deployment with the British Army during . During his training, he learned how to identify minefields. Then, on the battlefield, he protected his comrades-in-arms -- though not all of them made it back. On D-Day, he parachuted under heavy anti-aircraft fire onto the Continent. He was there when the Allies liberated Normandy. A few months before the war's end, he parachuted into western Germany, from where he marched to the Baltic Sea.

Less than two years after the war, Brian was given an award to recognize his "conspicuous gallantry." But the bronze medal was not the only thing that distinguished this special soldier from the majority of his comrades: Brian, the tough paratrooper, was a dog, a young Alsatian-Collie mix. During World War II, the 13th (Lancashire) Parachute Battalion started an adventurous experiment as it prepared for D-Day: enlisting dogs into their ranks. Hedgehogs need your help to save their sanctuary

A NORTH Devon woman who has spent the last eight years nursing sick and injured hedgehogs is facing the possibility of having to close her rescue sanctuary.
Due to a lack of space and funding, Anni Nicholls, who has adored hedgehogs from an early age, is faced with the threat of shutting the doors of North Devon Hedgehog Rescue.
Anni said she was devastated at the thought of having to turn away sick and injured hedgehogs, but has been offered new hope by Bideford-based holiday lettings company holidaycottages.co.uk.
The holidaycottages.co.uk team is looking to raise £2,500 through crowdfunder.co.uk, in order to help prevent the closure.

Dartmoor Skies is a charity that aims to inspire people about astronomy and science.
The founders of Dartmoor Skies, Rob and Bryony, have been pitching their telescope up on Dartmoor for the last couple of years and know just how amazing the views of planets, stars and galaxies can be.

Heavens above....

Space. It's quite big and although it is mostly, well, space, it's got lots of stuff in it too. Anyone can look up and be swept away by the beauty of a clear night's sky, and we've found that most people want to learn more about what they are seeing. Our purpose is to make astronomy more accessible by running astronomy events in multiple location and providing a small, but perfectly formed, collection of telescopes for people to use. Think of us as a mini mobile observatory with cakes, hot drinks and blankets.
Nerd-in-residence Rob will give a talk on a chosen subject. He'll then set up the telescopes and make sure they're pointing at interesting space objects for you. Feel free to ask him lots of complicated questions...it'll help him learn too.
Sometimes our events will focus on a particular planet or galaxy. Sometimes they'll be about more general subjects like constellations. For each event there's a talk, possibly some activities, and if the skies are clear we get you outside observing.

QUESTIONS about music? ok, here goes: WHAT INSPIRED YOU? my brother really helped me get into music. i think i heard talking heads "remain in light" & bryne/eno "my life in the bush of ghosts" and decided i had to have a band. other than those it was the music of the time, really, early/mid 80s, so i was into Depeche Mode, Prince (& offshoots) and a little later, Acid House. Later, in the 90s, it was Krautrock & The Beach Boys that really moved me. I've always loved Indian & African music too, although i'm not sure that really comes through. ha ha! WHAT ARE YOUR AIMS? I'm always recording with an aim to get it released, somehow. preferably in "physical" form. I'm also looking for a drummer for my group. That's quite a big thing, actually..... WHAT PLANS DO YOU HAVE FOR THE THE FUTURE? i have some solo, acid gigs (29th Oct & 4th Dec) & my band, 'Now', are playing 3rd & 30th Oct. In fact, the group set out on their most recent tour with Defeater, Expire and Speak Low with an arsenal of merch and creepy intro music dedicated to the freaky wonders of the universe. The group has even traveled all over the U.S. visiting the sites of their most beloved genre of entertainment during their down-time on tour. We spoke with guitarist (and possible extraterrestrial himself) Dan O’Connor to find out more about the group’s obsession.
I went to your tour kickoff in Cleveland two weeks ago and noticed you had some merch items with aliens on them. Also, you wore a shirt referencing the 1940s’ Roswell UFO incident. Definitely got me thinking, do you guys believe in aliens?
DAN O’CONNOR: [Bassist] Joe [Weiss] and myself have been really longtime fans of alien lore, TV shows and films [about the supernatural]. We both grew up watching The X-Files. One of our favorite movies is Fire In The Sky and when I was in sixth grade, I did my science project on “Aliens: Fact or Fiction?” Just this past year on one of our tours, we made it to Roswell, New Mexico, which is super-cool; they have all sorts of cool alien museums and [stuff] about the crash that happened there. How to deal with a spider

As the nights draw in and the heating gets turned up, spiders make their way back into our homes. With False Widows and giant house spiders cropping up around the UK, here are the best (and most outlandish) ways to keep your home spider free.
Conkers
A popular old wives tale says that chestnuts can be placed around the home to deter spiders. Some claim they hate the smell, others claim they keel over in the presence of a walnut. There’s no real evidence to support this though, so use either as a last resort or for a good old playground game.
Where there are insects, there are spiders
As the evenings grow darker, it can be tempting to leave outside lights on which serve as a beacon to the insects in the area. The spiders aren’t attracted to the light, but will follow the insects. If windows are left open with the lights on, expect a lot of spiders to be following those moths.

Essential Oils and Vinegar Sprays
Eucalyptus, tea-tree or even peppermint oils might keep the spiders out. While some might enjoy the smell, the spiders do not. Spray around windows and doors. A similar option is vinegar. With an infinite amount of uses around the house, one of them had to be deterring spiders. Side effects may include deterring friends and family from your extremely fragrant home. Check out a good oil spray recipe here.
Get a Pet
Preferably a cat. Cats have been used as hunters since humans first began to interact with them, and even the most docile tabby cat will still follow his instincts. While they aren’t going to eliminate the entire spider problem, they’ll catch anything they see sprinting across the living room floor. Use caution if there are poisonous spiders in the house like the False Widow, as they can hurt animals too.
Citrus
Your recently adopted cat will hate this too, but lemons, limes, oranges or grapefruit smell terrible to the average spider. The peels work perfectly, so just save them whenever enjoying a healthy piece of fruit. They do need to be replaced every few days as they dry out and lose their potency.
Cedar and Tobacco
With a convenient source of cedar or the money to afford to sprinkle tobacco around the home, these may also repel spiders. Cedar wood will work, so hangars may work in wardrobes. Investing in cedar furniture is only for the serious arachnophobe.
Keeping your home clean
Perhaps the most boring method and the most effective. Spiders love to hide in dark and neglected places, and any leftover food will attract insects that will in turn attract more spiders. Vacuuming or dusting away cobwebs and egg sacs will make spiders less eager to return. Removing plant matter and debris from around your house will also work as a preventative measure as there will be fewer spiders to move inside.
Caulking the gaps
Spiders have to get in somewhere. Sealing up the edges of windows and gaps in doors will make it much more difficult for them to find an entry point. You can also use a fine mesh across any air vents around the house.
Keep in mind, these tips are for homes with the normal influx of autumn spiders. In the event of a serious spider problem or if all else fails, contact an exterminator. Four years ago I was listening to a few radio wrestling shows and no one was talking about the British scene and I thought I got to try and start my own show promoting the British things around the country and wrestlers and the shows and went from there

Our aims have always been the same if one person goes to a British show and says I loved it and thank you then it's job done

Plans well hopefully to keep growing and improve both me and Nixy are our own worst critic if we had a bad show then no one can tell us as we will know and hopefully to promote more and more successful shows for the British scene

i was inspired by watching world of sport wrestling as a young boy, and watching some live shows, when i got the chance to try the sport i jumped at it, ive been hooked ever since and cant get enough of it, i plan to continue wrestling for as long as i can having turned 50 this year ive been wrestling for over 30 years, i have taught the sport to young lads wanting to get into it as well and my aims are to make sure as many people get to try the sport as possible but in a safe way so they know what they are doing and can do it without getting hurt through the sport it has kept me fit and kept me inspired to reach for my goals that is me at 50 years old.

Plans for the future: idk maybe send my 500 page book to someone for a edit\spell check. Idk its called 8th kind. I kinda went into making episodes instead on youtube, not like anyone reads anyway (unless your a right brain thinkers ;-p). Currently I'm exporting a 2hour that's what grey said movie (we took your out of body for any other reason). I started tying to write rap about alien Greys as well. But I guess goals for the future would to find other local Washington abductees. Or perhaps find other musicians or abductees that would like to rap. It seems no one raps about the speices, i guess its subjected for ridicule. Anyway, my goals in life, are to be heard, my future goals, are to be understood.

Question 2: I just want the word to know the truth, that the Greys take our out of bodies, while standing at the doorway. Perhaps we as human children would not have to suffer durring the memory erase procedures. Perhaps even our society, would stop fighting wars, as the dice no longer have to be rigged. Perhaps humanity would be allowed to mold into a more peaceful place. One where the helicopter company's do not profit of of possible false wars created by corporate greed. To awnser your question, my goal is for humanity to see, that the Greys are most likly created this fictional sounding display the subjects are aloud to black into over and over. My goal is for everyone to know in our species, that we are not the king of the food chain 11:11 And if possible, the Greys could rape us of our metaphysical energy, without inducing memory erase. More goal is to maybe work together, since these grey higher evolved parasites have the ability to take from us either way. My goal in life, is to form a abduction music groups, to implore abductees to join bands and create disclosure music of their own. Only through the many testimonies can the would erase truths, to find the truth.
Question 1: But to awnser your question, what inspires me, is a lack of information about the Greys. When I get offended, because I feel most the things on television only talk about bs. From UFO or Ariel claims, to hybrids (7th kind). Whenever I find somone that thinks they should obey the Greys and arnt actually up to something. I guess I get most inspired, when I'm offended by these oppionions overly optimistic. It seems the Greys have been insinuating that they have nothing gain from abduction. At least, nothing of an ill will, tgats what grey said. It seems the greys benifit from abduction, and lie around every positive corner. it seems abduction consist and forever will, and it does not infact favor humanity. Something was stolen from the children I feel, and most have suffered memory erase, unaware of their missing time. Some of these subjects are the presented with a peaceful display, and this is all the can recall, what they where aloud to see. Hear the subject often goes around and sounds ridicules as he says not only are aliens his friends, but they came just to hang out, or for some other claim no one would beleave. It seems successful abduction consist as A: no memory, or B: sounds crazy, thinks the Greys are zetas and extremely peaceful, with no ill will. SRSU gets comic con

Calling all West Texas nerds! The Sul Ross State University Library is putting on the Big Bend Comic Con from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, the first of its kind in the area. “The library was looking to do more programming and outreach, not just for the students but also the community,” said Amanda Gomez, education coordinator librarian. “We were looking for something that could include everybody.” Organizers hope that the comic con will create a sense of community on campus and help with student retention.
